Welcome to the online component for your faith formation! After each class, you will have a month to visit the Student Page to listen, watch, and read materials based on what you learned. These mini sessions are meant to build upon what you learned in class, and give you tools to continue to grow deeper in your faith.
In each section, you will find:
- LEARN MORE: This section summarizes what we learned and gives you additional information that builds upon what we learned, either through a video or an article.
- SAINT PROFILES: In this section, you will explore the lives of different saints and learn how they followed Christ through their words and actions. As you read each saint profile, consider the virtues they practiced, the challenges they faced, and what lessons their lives can teach us today. The goal is to discover role models of faith and reflect on how their example can inspire your own life.
- HOMEWORK: In this section you will find the homework that touches on the topics covered in class along with the information shared here. Please complete your homework assignments in the Google Form at the bottom of each section. If you have any trouble, have your parents email me at

In class, we learned about The Church: Our Community in Christ. We explored what the Church is, its roles, and how we can participate as members of God’s family.
What is the Church?
- The Church is the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:12–27)
- A community of believers guided by the Holy Spirit
- Exists universally and locally (parish)
- The Church is more than a building; it’s the people of God living together in faith.
SAINT PROFILES: Saint Thomas Aquinas
We can relate to Saint Thomas Aquinas in several meaningful ways, even though he lived over 700 years ago.
Below are some connections that may help us understand his journey and how he lived:
He was curious. Thomas loved asking questions about God, the world, and how things worked. In middle school you may find yourself naturally asking "why?" and want to understand your faith more deeply.
Saint Thomas Aquinas faced challenges. His family wanted him to choose a different path than becoming a priest. Even though it was difficult, Thomas stayed true to what he believed God was calling him to do. As a middle schooler, you may also experience pressure from friends or others and can learn from his courage.
He worked hard. Thomas spent years studying, reading, writing, and praying. As students, you can connect with the importance of doing your best in school and developing good habits.
He was humble. Even though he became one of the greatest teachers in the Church, Thomas knew there was always more to learn about God. This reminds us that intelligence is important, but humility is just as valuable.
He wanted to know the truth. Thomas believed that truth comes from God and that searching for truth is worthwhile.
Saint Thomas Aquinas shows that it's okay to ask questions, think deeply, study hard, and trust God. He teaches that being smart isn't just about getting good grades—it's about using your gifts to love God and serve others.
