Neocatechumenal Way

neocatechumenalEach year, at the invitation of the pastor, our parish offers a series of talks or catechesis to begin the Neocatechumenal Way. The catechesis is given over a period of two months, and launches a journey to rediscover of the treasures of baptism, through an ongoing process within the parish.

The next catechesis will be Mondays and Thursdays, 8:00 to 9:00 PM, beginning September 25th, 2023.

The Neocatechumenal Way is a catechetical-liturgical process of Christian Initiation within the Catholic Church. The process, or itinerary, of formation consists of the stages of Christian Initiation, the preparation for baptism. The formation takes place through catechesis and liturgies that implement, at a parish level, the renewal of the Second Vatican Council. In the Church, when an adult prepares for baptism, he or she goes through a process of initiation, or formation. The Neocatechumenal Way tailors this process to the needs of adults who have already been baptized, while still functioning as an effective preparation for baptism for those who have not yet been baptized. St. John Paul II wrote, “I recognize the Neocatechumenal Way as an itinerary of Catholic formation, valid for our society and for our times.”

Among the movements brought forth by the Spirit in our day are the Neocatechumenal Communities [...] My Predecessor Paul VI acknowledged as a fruit of the Council their effectiveness for the renewal of Christian life:  "What great joy and what great hope your presence and activity give us!” [...] As Bishop of Rome, in the Roman parishes, I have had many meetings with the Neocatechumenal Communities and with their Pastors, and, during my apostolic journeys to many nations, I too have been able to note the abundant fruits of personal conversion and missionary zeal.
