Welcome to the online component for your faith formation! After each class, you will have a month to visit the Student Page to listen, watch, and read materials based on what you learned. These mini sessions are meant to build upon what you learned in class, and give you tools to continue to grow deeper in your faith.

In each section, you will find:

  • LEARN MORE: This section summarizes what we learned and gives you additional information that builds upon what we learned, either through a video or an article.
  • SAINT PROFILES: In this section, you will explore the lives of different saints and learn how they followed Christ through their words and actions. As you read each saint profile, consider the virtues they practiced, the challenges they faced, and what lessons their lives can teach us today. The goal is to discover role models of faith and reflect on how their example can inspire your own life.
  • HOMEWORK: In this section you will find the homework that touches on the topics covered in class along with the information shared here. Please complete your homework assignments in the Google Form at the bottom of each section. If you have any trouble, have your parents email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. → LEARN MORE: LEARN MORE: Mary, the Mother of God and the Mother of Church

In class, we learned about our Mary, the Mother of God and the Mother of Church – of us! We learned about her important role that she played in salvation history – by saying “Yes” to God’s plan for her — and through her example of following Jesus. We learned that the Catholic Church honors Mary in a very special way as the Mother of God and the Mother of the Church. We examined the Angel Gabriel’s announcement to her (and the possibilities it came with!), and how her trust in God’s Will for her despite the fear of the unknown brought upon the Savior of the World! We also talked about special devotions to Mary, including the Rosary!

But why do we Catholics honor Mary? What is important about Mary, other than she brought Jesus into the world? Watch this video from Fr. Mark-Mary and Brother Malachy, who share stories about how Mary has brought strength and courage from the saint's lives and their own!

The Importance of Mary

SAINT PROFILES: Saint Mary Magdalene

Imagine someone whose life completely changed because someone believed in them.

That's Mary Magdalene.

The Bible tells us that Jesus healed Mary and freed her from great suffering. After that, she became one of His most faithful followers. She traveled with Him, listened to His teachings, and stayed with Him even when many others ran away.

When Jesus died on the cross, Mary didn't leave. She stayed close because she loved Him.

Then, on Easter morning, Mary went to Jesus' tomb. She was heartbroken, expecting to find His body. Instead, she became the very first person to see the risen Jesus. Jesus gave her an important job: tell the other disciples that He was alive!

Because of this, Mary Magdalene is called the "Apostle to the Apostles."
