Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Ridgewood parish will be conferring the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) rites and the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist on the two consecutive Sundays after Easter Sunday to three candidates who have completed the 2020-2021 RCIA program. Our pastor, Msgr. Ron, will be the minister of the sacraments.

The three candidates are: Spencer Corbin, Lauren Beausoleil, and Julia Longo. The parish joyfully celebrates their journey of faith.

On April 11 at the 9:30 AM Mass, Msgr. Ron will preside in the RCIA Rite of the Call to Continuing Conversion. This rite is administered to the baptized candidates who are completing their initiation through the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist  and for reception into the full communion of the Catholic Church. All three candidates will undergo this rite.

On April 18 at the 11:00 AM Mass, Msgr. Ron will preside in the RCIA Rite to administer the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. At this Mass, a baptized Christian candidate coming into the Catholic Church will recite the Profession of the Faith and will receive Confirmation and the Eucharist. Catholics also requesting to be confirmed will receive Confirmation. These sacraments will further seal their relationship with Christ and inspire them to evangelize about the Gospel to others strengthened by the graces of the Holy Spirit.

After the candidates receive their sacraments, their journey of faith will continue for a brief period. It is to emphasize the lifelong catechesis to love and know God from one’s heart and mind. This final period of their initiation process is the mystagogy or the “teaching of the mysteries” which simply helps them deepen their faith and to encourage them to live as true disciples of Jesus Christ.

The OLMC parishioners are invited to offer prayers for those who have embarked on this journey of faith and have embraced a relationship with God in the person of Jesus Christ.
