There will be NO CONFESSIONS this coming Monday, February 18, 2019 (Presidents' Day)

Dear Friends,
No, I haven’t changed my mind and I’m not breaking my word. Last week was the last regular column for the summer. As you can see, it’s much shorter, and so it’s not regular at all.

In the past weeks, the front of the bulletin has been spotlighting different groups of our children and youth, the second graders who made their First Communion, the ninth graders who made their Confirmation, the eighth graders who graduated from the Academy. Today, we spotlight the Senior members of our Youth Group who graduated last Wednesday, some of whom appear on this week’s cover at Senior Appreciation Night. We don’t honor them just for being in Youth Group, we honor them for all they have been to and done for Youth Group. They accepted the leadership role and they excelled at it.

Over the course of these years they have been on Team for the Confirmation retreats; they have taught in our Religious Education programs; been part of our Jr, High Lock-Ins. They’ve served as lectors and Eucharistic Ministers at the Sunday 6:30 Mass, as well as led the Living Stations of the Cross on Good Friday, and they’ve spearheaded, organized and ran a number of service projects over the years, including Summer Mission projects in the Archdiocese, the annual Turkey Drive in November, Meals in Motion, providing meals for such places as Haiti and Uganda, totaling something like over 20,000 meals, continuous support for the Fr. English Center in Paterson, including support after the fire that destroyed the Food Pantry. They’ve participated in the National Catholic Youth Conference and have served as mentors for the classes following behind. And they have grown over the years in their faith. We thank them for all they have meant to us and the ways they’ve inspired us and we send them prayerful best wishes for success at their chosen colleges. As the old saying goes, God speed to all of you.

A last reminder for the summer, giving electronically helps the parish. And it’s easy – simply click on the WE SHARE icon on the Home Page of the website and you’re half way there.

If you haven’t had the chance yet, join over four hundred of your fellow parishioners in supporting Sharing God’s Blessings, the annual campaign of the Archdiocese. Envelopes are in the bookracks in all the lobbies of the church.

Finally, God’s blessings to all of you for a relaxing, restful and safe summer, filled with the fulfillment of your hearts’ deepest desires, family, friends, re-connections, and, of course, God.

God Bless,
Fr. Ron
